This week we are delighted to introduce our Head of English for September, Mr Mainwaring.
John Mainwaring - Head of English
"Since I was a child, I have always been an avid reader and valued the power of literature to transport you to other worlds that you would otherwise never get to experience. This, along with my interest in languages, was what led me to study English and French at the University of Warwick.
A career in education runs in my family – both my mother and grandfather were teachers, and I have always admired their dedication to improving the lives of young people. After teaching English abroad during my Erasmus year in France, I decided that teaching was also something that I wanted to pursue. My favourite thing about teaching is helping students to achieve their goals and seeing doors open for them because of their hard work and academic success.
My interests outside of school are quite varied. Needless to say, reading is a main past time; as well as travelling (and attempting to learn new languages); running; going to the cinema and theatre; and spending time with my young children.
I am very much looking forward to getting to know our students and their families and being part of such a unique journey at Oasis Temple Quarter"
