Kathryn Hughes - Head of History
'Looking ahead to September, I can’t wait to begin teaching at Oasis Temple Quarter as Head of History and I am excited to meet all of our new students! I’ve always been very interested in the world we live in and growing up, enjoyed conversations about global and current affairs and it was this intrigue that led me to studying Modern History and Politics at the University of Manchester. Studying history helps us make sense of the world today as we learn about events and their consequences and how those moments in time have shaped the modern world into what it is today. What I am looking forward to most about teaching at OATQ, is that I am going to get the chance to teach you not just History, but also Geography and RPE. The humanities subjects compliment one another wonderfully and will help you to really make sense of what it means to be a citizen of the world.
When I’m not teaching, I love to travel – I spent last summer in Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua hiking up volcanoes and eating tacos! Being from London, I also enjoy spending time in the capital going to gigs and exhibitions. I am also really keen on sports, I competed in the Bristol Triathlon last year, play netball and enjoy skiing! Hopefully I will get to see lots of you on the pitch/court come September.'
